Missions and Outreach

We are a “Going” church

At New Life missions and outreach is not just another ministry activity. We believe it is what being the church is all about. Jesus said, “Go into all the world and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit” (Matt 28:19). We believe this mandate is for every believer… not just the ones who believe they have enough time, training, or money. Whether it’s going on a mission trip, serving at the homeless shelter, or praying with your next door neighbor, missions is a lifestyle. Our goal at New Life is to make this “going” lifestyle as easy and attainable as possible.

In Acts 1:8 Jesus said, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and to the ends of the earth." At New Life we focus our missional impact locally (Jerusalem), nationally (Judea), and globally (the ends of the earth).

We coordinate monthly trips to the Lifeworks Community Action in Saratoga where we help serve in the soup kitchen. We also have recently joined with Justice for Orphans to launch at Care Portal at New Life Fellowship.

Sometimes it is not easy to take time off of work and spend thousands of dollars on an overseas mission trip. Once a year we send a team down to work with our ministry partners in Miami, FL. This is an amazing opportunity for our church in upstate New York to impact a city far away from us where God is not easily found. This last summer our youth group was able to serve alongside in Logan, WV. Regional and domestic mission trips are a great way to scratch the mission itch if hopping on a plane to fly 5000 miles away is not in the cards.

Our strongest global mission partnership is in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Over the last 15 years New Life has sent 7 teams to partner with organizations who work to reach this country for Christ. Unlike many other European countries, there is a tremendous amount of poverty and despair that exists in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Less than 1% of the population are followers of Christ.

One of our ministry partnerships in Bosnia and Herzegovina is with the Izvor Center in Sarajevo. The center works to build relationship in the city by putting on kids camps, teaching english, and many other things.

BOSNIAN HANDCRAFT PROJECT

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been battered by recent civil war and centuries of cultural turmoil. The Bosnian Handcraft Project was started as a way to help widows whose husbands had been killed during the collapse of the former Yugoslavia. It has become an incredible way to help Bosnian women who have struggled to find their sense of purpose in life. It is an amazing discipleship ministry with goal of pointing these women to Jesus Christ. The handcrafts made through the project are sold fair-trade all over the world. New Life has partnered with the project for almost 15 years and is the main distribution center in the United States.
